The Rotary Club of Summit County presented its 12th annual barbecue event hosted by the Town of Dillon August 10th and 11th. More than 22,000 hungry people strolled the winding streets of downtown Dillon enjoying the sites, sounds, smells and tastes of 79 teams from around the country competing for a variety of awards. Carcass Cookers of Pueblo won the Grand Champion. They were awarded $2,500 in cash, a $2,300 Kingfisher Kountry Kooker and the unique Championship Buckle. Our Reserve Grand Champion, was Quau (rhymes with luau) of Brimfield, IL.. They were awarded $1,500 in cash and the Reserve Grand Championship Buckle. Other top finishers include... Chicken:

Crispy Critters of Littleton Colorado wooed Mayor Barbara Davis for the Mayor's Cup Showmanship award. Congratulations to Robert Kimble of Dillon who was the lucky winner of the silver 1985 Corvette and congratulations to Bryce Berquist of Lakewood who was the lucky winner of the electric BBQ grill and cart. Bryce is a senior at CSU. He plans to use the grill at school this year and then give it to his parents next summer. |
